Finding Famous Celebrity Art Paintings

The niche market of famous art paintings has been on the rise over the past decade. The reason for this is due to the obsession within the United States with celebrities and fame. In fact, it is more common for newspapers and magazines to comment and report on the lives of celebrities, then it is for them to actually report about world events or "news worthy" topics. This obsession with celebrities and fame has led to a very dramatic and almost shocking rise in the sell and value of celebrity art.

Collectors and fans are also very aware that obtaining, collecting, and then selling celebrity art is a very beneficial way to make a living. This is why more and more collectors and fans have been seeking out celebrity art to add to their celebrity based or entertainment based collections.
Value on art paintings increases with the popularity and in some cases declining popularity of celebrities. For instance, a celebrity who stays on top of their career and seems to become more popular with each passing year is highly sought after when it comes to celebrity art.

Collectors are no fools and realize that a popular art paintings work will be worth its weight of gold in the future after they retire or are even deceased. In fact, the celebrity art of a deceased individual will actually bring in more money than that of a living celebrity. The reasoning for this is very simple. Once a celebrity is deceased they will no longer be able to continue creating artwork. Therefore, the art of a deceased celebrity will be considered rare and die-hard collectors and fans of the celebrity will pay almost anything to own art from the celebrity.
On the other side a celebrity who has become a "spectacle" who also created art, will see their art selling more and more. This is generally due to the scandals or "circus" that surround the celebrity in question.

Two prime examples of this are Michael Jackson and Brittany Spears. Both of these celebrities started out with very well known and publicized careers. Their concerts sold out to millions and they were the golden children of the media. However, the moment their personal lives began to spiral out of control and their images began to grow tarnished under the media spotlight, their value when it concerns collectibles and their art, actually increased.

It increased due to the fact that their fame increased regardless of the fact that their albums were not selling as well as they used to. The notoriety of these celebrities actually added great value to their paintings. They will always be remembered for their early careers that changed music, but will be remembered even more for the circus that unfolded when their personal lives began to crumble or grow strange.

These are just a few reasons why the niche market of celebrity art has been on the rise and will continue to rise in the next decade. No matter what world events take place, people can't get enough of celebrities and will do whatever it takes to obtain a small piece of their lives whether this be in the form of autographed photos or original artwork created by the celebrity in question.

How to Look at Art Paintings

My very first visit to the art museum was a journey through a maze. I was on a school excursion intended to foster art appreciation amongst students, yet I quickly found myself losing concentration and drifting off to sleep whenever I couldn't make sense of the abstract brushstrokes or strange imagery used by artists in paintings.

This doesn't look like anything!" I remember exclaiming to a schoolmate, still trying to associate the elements of painting with familiar everyday objects.
When my efforts to put the work in perspective were futile, i scurried away with my friends to view the next most eye-catching work, often paying no attention to the ones that were less colourful or striking.

There were always those questions of "What the paintings meant" and "How one could search for these meanings", that we, non-art students, had no answers to. I was sure however, that there was more to art than visual appeal alone.

After all, famous documentary maker John Grierson once described art as a hammer, not a mere reflection of reality; He believed that art had the potential to evoke emotions and bring to light to issues men have buried in the unconscious. Hit by the same questions again and again after I visited a painting exhibition in San Francisco recently, I embarked on quest to learn from the experts.

Getting Started
#1 Physical Properties
Consider the dimensions of the painting, it's size relative to the environment and how it's displayed. (i.e: framed, unframed or freestanding)
Some artists intend for their work to be extremely large in scale to create a certain kind of impact or to evoke a certain sense of awe.
Look closely at the painting and examine what types of medium the artist had chosen to use. (i.e: acrylic paint, oil paint, watercolour paint, charcoal, metal) Observe how the paint has been applied. (i.e: with a brush, fingers, sponge).
How has the artist used his or her tools to create a certain feeling and what would change if it were substituted for something else?
Is there a certain texture that has been created (i.e: rough, smooth, edgy) that causes you to cringe, feel like touching it or respond to it in a certain way?
Also pay attention to elements like lines which may affect the way your eye is being directed and the use of colours to create a certain mood.

#2 Subject
In most paintings, there should be a focal point or a central element that captures your attention and draws your eye to it first. This may provide you with clues concerning the theme or issue the artist may be trying to shed light upon.
For example, in Blue Clamp (1981), a masterpiece of American artist Jim Dine, the eye is first drawn to the blue clamp central to the heart in the painting. The physical properties combined with the clamp evoke a strong sense of pain, as if one can picture another bleeding,
When looking at a painting, consider whether you can associate any imagery with past experiences or symbols that may signify particular events/issues.
Is the work abstract or something that breaks boundaries and fixed notions about beauty?
20th century artists often experiment with different ways of creating art, questioning expectations of what art should or should not be.

#3 Viewer's Perspective
Finally, pay attention to where the artist has positioned you as a viewer and what perspective you have been forced to undertake.
Are you looking into a house, looking from above or below a subject?
Does the gaze of the subject (i.e: a man) invite you to look closely at him or does he seem disconnected from the viewer because we cannot see his face?
The artist makes deliberate choices about what he wants to reveal and what he wants to hide from the viewer, and we can derive meaning from these choices
For example, if a subject's face is not being shown, it could imply a lack of status or identity, depending on the associations one makes.
While some pieces of work are more abstract than others, the meaning of any painting is open to your interpretation. There are no right or wrong answers, so don't be afraid of speaking your mind!
Try talking about a painting with a friend and you'll be surprised how different his or her ideas could be!

Note down what runs through your mind the next time you step into an art gallery and look at paintings with a whole new light!

Art Painting Techniques

Well there is really only one way to truly discover art painting techniques. You guessed it, practice them! Where do I start, you may be asking. Well if you are beginning, you should start by "copying" other artists work. I am not saying to take credit for others work, just learn from those that are trying to teach.

I have created several step by step lessons in which you will be taken from a blank canvas to a beautiful masterpiece that you alone created! You will be absolutely amazed at yourself and at how easy and fun painting is to learn!

Wet on Wet. This is an oil painting technique. The artist applies moist paint on top of moist paint because oil paint stays wet. You must lean blending techniques in order to avoid making a muddy mess on the canvas.

Layering. If you are using acrylic paint then you will likely apply a layer and allow it to dry - this takes about 2 minutes! Now apply highlights or more color on top of preceding layers

Texture. If you are painting with oil, the paint usually goes on thick and what you see is what you get. The finished painting is full of brushstrokes, knife strokes and highs and lows in the paint itself. You can add texture medium to acrylic paint to create the same affect as well

As you learn to paint, you will find that several different techniques form the foundation of your art - the brush you use, the colors you choose, how you apply the paint, and so on. You form your own unique painting techniques. You may learn from others but your work will be uniquely your own and you will refer back to the techniques that you have found that worked for you.

Together - with step-by-step lessons and your desire to learn drawing and painting techniques we will bring out that true creativity inside of you and create beautiful works of art! To see acrylic tips, tricks, lessons and to Learn Painting Techniques visit my how to paint instructional site. The best way to begin painting is to follow prescribed instruction and get your feet wet. With a little practice, you will be well on your way to a rewarding hobby of painting. Let http://www.IamPainting.org show you how!

Fine Art Paintings Reproduction - Copying Other Artist's Work - Is That OK?

Fine art paintings reproduction, copying the masters to learn how to paint, is that how you do it, is that OK? Sure, lots of people do it, but there are a few things to think about.

Painting landscapes still life portrait commissions by using someone else's work, to sell, Is that OK?
Nope.

I guess it is a personal choice in many ways. I have tried copying verbatim, and actually learned many things by doing so. It is amazing the colors you begin to see, that you had noticed before, while you study something hard enough to copy it, on any level.

I knew a woman once who only did that, only copied every single stroke of whatever master she was enamored with. She never painted landscapes, still life and portrait commissions, she just painted for her own pleasure. I never got it though, she never showed her work, and only decorated her own house as well as friends and relatives, she confessed. I guess she took it as far as she wanted to. I always thought she indeed possessed a real talent though so it was a shame that she never had the confidence to step out in that.

I think it is one thing to draw from someone's work, and another to out and out copy it, and never pursue doing anything more; never learning from it; never creating your own expression that you drew from someone else's style.

Who are you?
It seems valid to seek out dimensions of the quest of other artists, you just need to make sure that along the way, who you are, and who you hope to be as an artist, is not compromised.

Another very obvious consideration is the copyright laws! If you are copying someone like Lucian Freud, hey, no way! Freud is still alive, so major problems there huh? You can still do it of course, but not sell it, not show it and maybe keep it under a rug. LOL.

Whatever you do, know who you are as an artist, or at least push toward that effort. Take time out to play with your art. Read all you can about who other artists were and are. It is in their words and thoughts that you will find great gifts. Matisse said to feel the colors.. ahh such a gift is that.
Feel the colors and who you are within your own creative journey.

Keep a journal, document your own efforts and what motivates you as an artist and individual. You are every bit as important as a master artist. By keeping a journal you will notice your own growth.
If you choose to do fine art paintings reproductions, OK, but reach farther too. Embrace your next creation, be it a landscape, still life or a portrait. Realize who you might be, past what you copy, and unfold that hidden talent.

Get the Beauty, Color and Details of an Original Fine Art Painting With a High Quality Giclee

As discussed in previous articles, there are many different types of media that are used to create fine art paintings and prints. One such high quality type of medium used in fine art is the giclée (zhee-clay). The giclee is a fairly new fine art technique which began in the 1980s. Very large high quality ink jet printers are used to create these works of art. Fade resistant high quality ink is squirted or sprayed onto fine art archival paper or canvas to create the artwork, thus this finished product was given the name, giclee, which is French for squirt or spray.

This is just a simplistic description of the giclee, however. There is much more to this unique technique. First, each and every giclee is individually created. There is no such thing as the mass production of giclees, as with other art creation media. Since each giclee is created through the use of a professional inkjet printer, as mentioned above, there are no "dot patterns" as might be found on a lithograph print. The artist has the opportunity to make changes to the painting, whether it is in the image or coloring, with each production of the print until it is to his or her complete satisfaction. The artist can also create a fine art giclee at will, producing it on an "as needed" basis.

Although it is much more expensive to create a giclee than a lithograph, the final print is a very high quality product that has better color with extreme accuracy and detail, rendering a final piece of artwork that can be an exact duplication of the original painting, especially when printed on canvas. One last addition to an original fine art giclee that will add great value to the artwork is any remarquing by the artist. This can be done by any embellishment of the artwork with hand painting directly on the giclee by the artist. Remarquing can also be done with the artist's original signature on the artwork. For this reason, the giclee is very popular among many of our most famous artists.

The glicee is held in such high esteem in the fine art world that museums, such as the Metropolitan Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in New York City have many giclees hanging on their walls. Giclee prints have also been sold at auction for large sums of money, further validating that this artwork media as one that is considered valuable.

The greatest advantage to the giclee print is in its ability to allow individuals, who cannot afford an original painting by a famous artist, to own that same work of art that is almost identical to the original. Amazingly, some giclees that were created on the highest quality and most expensive can be put side by side with the original and it would take an expert to distinguish the original from the print. This allows art collectors to enjoy the ability to own a famous artist's painting at a much more affordable price point.

What Are Art Paintings?

For centuries, people have studied the Arts. Millions of artists have come and gone and paintings have graced the walls of a multitude of homes and museums. The love of art paintings is more than just looking at pretty pictures on the walls. The love of paintings includes knowing, and often feeling, just how past artists created their masterpieces.

If you have ever viewed Leonardo Da Vinci's Last Supper then you have truly looked at art. Da Vinci's masterpiece became highly popular virtually the minute he finished the last stroke. The King of France during that period fell so in love with this work of art that he wanted to have the entire wall taken down and moved to France.

Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel has affected people in much the same way. Although not technically a wall painting, it is still a piece of art. The sheer dimensions of this piece are astounding. The fact that he spent four years in creating this masterpiece is even more astounding. The piece is a perfect piece of art.

Whether you enjoy the masterpieces that were created by the most famous artists of all time, or you prefer a more modern approach to art paintings, one thing stands very clear. The world of art is an amazing and exciting world. From the Revival Period masterpieces to new-age modern art with its often eccentric circles and seemingly endless mysteries, art paintings provide a beautiful way to dress up a wall. From oil paintings to abstracts, these paintings provide the world with beauty and a world of mystery. Artists have been around since the dawn of time. Without them, we would certainly be a much less cultured world, spending far too much time on meaningless tasks and not having the ability to truly appreciate beauty.

Beginning Art Paintings

Paintings are one of the most beautiful pieces of art that man has ever produced. They have been around for thousands of years and have been produced or drawn on various types of material. With various designs, colors and meanings incorporated in them, they are simply a joy to see and behold. Hence, if you're really interested in starting off with art paintings, below are some steps on how to begin.

If you already find yourself good in drawing and other related hobbies, this article can be even helpful when you really want to start of doing art paintings. What you should do first would be to decide on what you hope to achieve in your paintings and decide your target. Don't just rush into something blindly. Instead formulize on what type of art will suit you most as paintings come indifferent types and genres. Once you've done that, then you could start to plan on how you would reach that particular objective of yours.

Although painting would be the most important aspect of an art painting, if you plan to sell your painting at the end of the day, always draw something that is in demand in the market. Get to know the market niche and what customers want out of the paintings they buy. This way you'll have a clearer idea on what you should do.

Now to the painting part where proper planning has to be taken if you really want a good painting done. Painting shouldn't be done rashly but you should go through roughly where and what you'll start first on. For instance, always draw the main idea of the painting first such as a person's face before heading on to other parts or the backgrounds. Through this you'll be able to allocate enough space on materials such as canvas for the whole idea of your painting.

At the end, I'd like to share cool website with more information on topics like art paintings and original art paintings. Visit for more details.

Types of Art Paints (Mediums) That Artists Use

Confused by the various types of mediums (paints) that artists use? Which is the "best" medium? You may be looking to make an informed decision when buying a piece of art.

Here we list the common Art Paints that artists commonly use to help you make that informed choice. Still, we believe that the artistic quality of the piece should be the main consideration when buying an art painting.

Oil
The most commonly used painting medium, oil gives rich vivid colours and textural variation. Over long periods of time and especially without proper care, slow working chemical reactions will cause oil to fade and tend towards brittleness. Oil is still by far the oldest and most popular medium used.

Acrylic
Acrylic is highly resistant and does not seem to fade. A water-based, "modern" medium, acrylic is highly versatile and offers lower toxicity levels than oil. Coupled with its lower cost and versatility acrylic is fast becoming a popular choice for artists today.

Watercolour
With a longer history than oil, watercolour offers luminosity and requires skill to use as mistakes are hard to cover. Mostly paired with paper, it is a comparatively perishable medium that is vulnerable to the elements. Modern pigments have increased the durability of watercolour.

Gouache
Sharing the same water soluble properties with its Watercolour cousin, Gouache has a higher proportion of colour pigment and an additional white pigment added to it bound with liquid glue. Therefore, it is an "opaque watercolour" that does not rely on a white background.

Tempera
Sometimes called poster colour, Tempera comprises of coloured pigments mixed with water and "tempered" with glutinous materials such as egg yolk which binds the paint together as it dries. Over the years, the paint becomes tough and insoluble.

Charcoal
Most artists use charcoal as a preliminary tool as it is vulnerable to smudges. Nevertheless, artists enjoy charcoal for its versatile ability to capture both gestures and emotions with an intuitive mixture of the soft and the dark.

Pastels
The word "Pastel" comes from the paste made of pure and powdered colour pigment, which are moulded into stick form with minimal amounts of resin. Pastels do not mix well to create new colours and it can used more for quick sketches with a vivid and luminous appearance
There you have it! Remember, every medium has its fans and there isn't a single "best" medium to look out for when buying an art painting. Our (not so helpful) advice? Think about what the art piece means to you, understand the artist in question, and THEN look at the medium. As art romantics, we wouldn't suggest anyway else.

The author, Shannon, runs Artyii, an online platform where you can browse and buy original art paintings from Emerging Asian Artists in a variety of mediums.

Art Painting As a Career

Many people like to draw, sketch, and do art painting. Often we wonder if we could succeed if we chose art painting as a career. The answer to that question lies in the skill you have as an artist, and the determination you have to succeed. We have all heard of starving artists, but these individuals were not starving because of lack of talent, they chose the lesser pay to pursue a passion as their career choices.

Art painting is not an easy career to get off the ground. Just because you make lovely pictures does not mean you are going to be a huge success at selling the work you do. Most people who choose art painting as a career struggle for many years trying to get their work recognized by the public. You cannot give up or even entertain the thought of quitting when you are pursuing an artistic career. You have to keep trying to get noticed and never stop trying.

If you are going to make this your career then you need to get a formal education in the skills, the history of art, and the artists that have come before. Learn everything you can about the subject because there is nothing new under the sun. You will be able to use some of the lessons you learn from the mistakes that other famous artist made to get your career off on the right track. In order to succeed in life you have to know what you are doing and you have to be determined to be the best t your profession.

It takes more than just placing a for sale sign on a canvas and hoping for a customer to stop in if you are going to make a real living at this career. You need to get out of the small towns and go to where the people that appreciate art are. Go to large cities and practice your skills on the street where people can stop and observe you at work. More artists sell their work when people can see them create it. If you do human faces then pick people out in the crowd and sketch their faces. Be sure you sign and autograph every picture that you do.

Volunteer at local civic clubs to help children learn to appreciate art. You will find that a lot of your successful artists will volunteer for these programs and you will get to meet them when you volunteer as well. Do not be afraid to ask questions of the professionals and be honest about your goals and dreams when you talk to them. They can give you advice that is more valuable than anything you can learn in a book.

If you have to work another job until your art starts to sell then make sure you still make the time to create your artistic pieces. You cannot stop doing what you love and think that you will start again one day. The chances are that you will never pick the projects up again once you stop.
Art painting is a career that many people aspire to. Art painting can be a lucrative career, but the artist will have to be determined to make it in this profession, and they will need a lot of self-motivation. Art Painting Tips

Art painting is a passion for some and for some people art painting is something they do to pass the time of day. It does not matter if you are a professional with thirty years of experience in art painting or you just began art painting this morning, you can always benefit from tips from other painters.

The most important advice that a painter can be given is advice on selecting the brushes they will use to do their work. Brushes can be made from synthetic materials; they can be made from horse hair, and even human hair. Some brushes are nothing more than sponges on a stick. You have to learn which brush to use at what time in order to achieve the desired effects.

Human hair brushes are much more expensive than most of the other brushes you can buy. Human hair brushes are suitable for delicate work where you need your brush strokes to completely blend into the paint and not be visible. These brushes are excellent for artists who do a lot of portraits and depictions of faces.

Artificial bristled brushes are the cheaper brushes and they tend to lose some of their bristles while you are painting. Nothing can ruin a painting more quickly than the fibers of your brush to begin to fall apart while you are working. Avoid the cheap brushes with artificial fibers when the work matters.

Brushes with sponges on the end are meant for seascapes and paintings that allow you to daub the baint and smear it rather than stroke it on. These tools have their uses when you are creating an angry sea or a stormy looking sky. They are not good for most other things you want to paint.

Canvases come in different sizes and they are made from different materials. The higher priced the canvas is the better quality materials were used to create it. Some of the cheaper canvases simply allow the paint to run instead of soaking the paint up and hold it in place. You must remember that most artists experiment with the different canvases until they find one brand that they like the most. Then they will purchase that brand repeatedly because they are accustomed to the way it handles the paint and they know what to expect.

In order for you to waste less canvas you should commit your idea to paper before you try and commit it to canvas. The paper drawing will be slightly different from the results you will get from the canvas version but you can get an idea of what you need to add or take away before you start putting it on canvas. Paper is forgiving and canvas is not.

Learn to take criticism without being personally offended by it. You will never make a successful artist if you cannot learn to allow people to criticize your work, and learn to accept the criticism for what it is. Criticism is the opinion of another person and is not necessarily true. Take it with a grain of salt.

Art painting is something that you never learn everything there is to know about it. People who do art painting learn with every painting they do and they learn from every person they come into contact with. You can get more information at art painting classes and kid's art classes Orange County.

Basic Knowledge on Pop Art Paintings

Pop art was an art movement that initially occurred in the United States of America in the early sixties. The epicenter of this art phenomenon was New York, the city confirming its trend setting leader position. Although this movement strongly erupted in the early sixties, the attempts of change started during the late fifties in the work of Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns. These painters wanted to replace the abstract mode of artistic expression, aiming at making the art's message easier to be understood by the public. The first pop art paintings contained easy to recognize images of common items. The purpose of incorporating these objects was to mock the gravity, the metaphysical dullness of abstract expressionism that had started to become out of fashion. Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg introduced amusing objects into the first pop art paintings: flags, maps and targets or stuffed animals and rubber tyres for the latter artist. The pop art movement become famously known for their main feature: mockery and irony.

Claes Oldenburg, James Rosenquist Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein were the most representative artists for this new art stream. Their pop art paintings were characterized by their original display of popular culture's symbols: advertisements, media images or even comic strips. These new, colorful, lively pop art paintings were strikingly opposing the gravity, the spirituality of abstract expressionism. Consequently, these kinds of pop art paintings become very popular among the art loving public and among the art critics community. But the abstract expressionism continued to be highly appreciated, despite the pop art paintings' mockery.

Although the pop art movement was popular and influential it proved to lack the strength of completely supplant the abstract expressionism, but it determined the birth of two new schools of abstraction: color-field painting and minimalist art. The color-field painting movement (mainly represented by painter Helen Frankenthaler) minimized the influence of abstract expressionism's old features into a style completely committed to the use of pure color.

The American art of the sixties remained in the art history books as a period of constant rivalries between different competing styles and ideas. Yet, the pop art paintings represented best the ideas and the symbols of the American lifestyle in the sixties.

Protective Aspects of Framed Art Paintings

If you are an art collector then you probably realize having framed art paintings is going to afford you many luxuries that you might not have had before. However, just by having the art framed though the possibility of increased value is not going to be the only positive that you will find. Some of the other positives that you can find is going to be the protective aspect that they add to your art collection. Here are some of the various protection qualities that you will find with these compared to unframed art.

The first protective aspect is that if they are framed and you are the one that is getting it framed you can choose to have the UV protective glass. By having the UV protective glass you will not experience some of the fading that you can see with paintings that are not framed. However, this feature can be expensive, but the protection of the painting and prevention of fading from the sunlight will be well worth the cost.

The second protective aspect is that you can find the paintings edges will remain undamaged. Having perfect edges on a painting will make it much easier to hang for display in your home. However, if you are like some people you probably think that you have it hanging right only to discover a second to late that you did not and it crashes to the floor. With a frame the edges of the painting will be preserved if this should happen to you because of the added protection of the frame.

The third protective aspect is that you will have the choice of choosing acid free matte. Some paintings are just to small to fit into the size of the frame that you choose and need the edging matte. However, if you choose the wrong type of matte you will notice that your painting will start to disappear. With the acid free though your painting will be able to have the matte without the worry of acid eating away at it.

The fourth protective aspect is you can choose to have acid free backing. The backing of your painting is important as it will help provide you with a back to the painting to help prevent tears. The hard part though is you will want to utilize acid free backing. If you choose to use acid free backing your painting will be easier to preserve because you do not have to worry about it being destroyed by various compounds eating at the paint.

The fifth protective aspect is that it can help you protect it from accidental spilling of items. If you have children or are careless then you know the damaging effects that spills can have. However, if you have your painting inside of a frame the glass that covers it will provide some form of protection to keep the liquid that is spilled from reaching the painting.

Being able to do this is a great way to protect your investment. However, you will want to remember to do it properly to ensure that protection works.

Having framed art paintings will allow you to enjoy many different protective aspects. Some of these aspects are ones that you might not have thought about before, but are ones that you will want to take into consideration as the value of art continues to grow. Remember that framing can be rather expensive so you will want to make sure that you make proper choice for a frame while you can.

Types of Art Paintings

Wherever you go today there is surely art to be found. Anywhere you go in the world there is certainly an art form to sweep you off your feet and leave you breathless as they are exceptionally beautiful and wonderful pieces of genius. Taking that into view, art painting artists don't actually just paint only one type of paintings but they do vary in different genres and themes. Hence, below are some examples on the types of art paintings down today.

The most common type of painting done by artists would be oil paintings as they can be drawn or done in various designs and methods. Oil paintings are actually paintings that are done with pigments that are directly added or incorporated in drying oil. It was first used as varnishes but through the ages evolved into painting materials. Oil paintings are available in various colors and designs, and if done well are exceptionally beautiful works of art.

Art painting artists also do tend to paint fantasy paintings that are currently in demand in today's market. Fantasy paintings can be anything from just a complicated and creative idea of an artist or even a magical realm that is created out of nothing. Paintings are capable of bringing wonders into a person's imagination and mind, and fantasy art is one example of it that could simply mesmerize you as they are usually a portrayal of an artist's imagination.

Last but not least would be landscape paintings which are somewhat common. Landscape paintings like the word says are paintings that portray what we view around us such as beautiful scenery. They can range from grassy hills to beach sides and snowy mountains. Artists have a great sense of imagination and creativity and some can even draw these landscapes to an extent that they look actually real and are a photo captured into canvas.

Various Types of Original Art Paintings

There are various types of original art paintings from abstract art through to landscape oil paintings. Since art is a personal preference some things may appeal while others are difficult to understand as being art.

You can purchase original art paintings from dealers and galleries which can be found in most major towns or online. There are also auctions where fine works of art go to the highest bidder. You may also find gems of paintings in house clearance sales or antique stores. If you know what you are looking for and have a discerning eye then you could pick up something special.
There are various styles of art paintings. One of the main types are landscape paintings and these usually depict a scene outdoors in nature. The skill lies in the way the artist used light and color to recreate the scene. Styles differ widely amongst artists and often the more unique style can lead to a new movement in art such as Impressionism.

Still life is also a genre of art painting. This was traditionally used to capture objects such as fruit or an arrangement of flowers. The skill here is in giving the objects a lifelike quality. The Vanitas style paintings depict a skull, a candle and often a beautiful lady to show how age and mortality affects everyone and this has added symbolism behind the objects as many still life paintings do.
Portrait art paintings capture a person at a particular moment in time. Before the advent of photography the nobility and gentry were dependent on having their portraits painted and it was a luxury for the very rich.

Today these kind of paintings may have value as a family heirloom, as a collectible art piece or you may like the depiction in the painting and have a connection with the face behind the art piece.
Da Vinci's Mona Lisa is the one of the most famous portraits in the world and is securely housed in the Louvre in Paris. Her secret smile always creates intrigue about her thoughts at the time. This kind of art is priceless and portraits featuring the monarchy and commissioned by famous world artists are going to be more expensive.

There are also religious works of art and these often depict a sacred scene from the Bible and symbols of Christ and his disciples. Originals of this genre are usually very expensive and may appeal to those with some interest in the art history period of the work. You could purchase contemporary original artworks from galleries and many new artists have launch nights where they display their work and give a talk on the theory behind the work.

When you are purchasing original art paintings, you should give thought to the kind of art you like and what will work best in your living space. Original paintings are always going to be more expensive, but they have an elusive unique appeal. Whichever style you choose should be one that you love since you will be sharing your living space with the artwork.

Art Paintings - Exploring the Artist Identity

In this article, I have outlined the experiential processes of art paintings; the processes of dialogue and the processes of reflection or witness. These processes are taken from my own personal research into my artist identity and the findings have greatly informed my practice. This account forms a guide to those artists who wish to delve into their artist identity or those interested in exploring art painting processes.

Art Paintings Processes
The painting processes in this research endeavour to study the artist identity of the artist through the exploration of consciousness. The basic components of what; where, when; how and why they take place will be described in the following applications, which form a personal account.

These processes have been chosen instead of other media because of the quality of paint's immediate and fluid response. Despite a background in ceramics, art paintings is where my passion lies.
Processes

What the Art Paintings Will Comprise
In my exploration, six art paintings will be undertaken. These will be abstract art paintings and figurative paintings. I will use alternative surfaces. The paintings will include canvases stretched professionally with concrete underlay (thick black plastic).

The dimensions of each art painting will be uniform: 120 x 70x 5 cm. The media used will include oil paint, enamel, oil sticks, Black Japan stain, shellac, pastel, charcoal and ink. The primary artistic focus in this process will lie in the use of alternative materials in painting and in the use of alternative surfaces. Boundaries may be intentionally pushed through the use of construction materials to create aesthetics on surfaces not intended for this purpose.

When the Painting Will Take Place
The proposed plan involves painting every second Tuesday and every Thursday for a period of six weeks. This art painting will occur at night in two to three hourly timeslots.

Where They Will Take Place
The space will consist of a studio set-up in a lock-up garage. For the purposes of the research, the computer and reference materials will be set up on one side of a garage space, and the work bench with art painting materials on the other. I plan to be able to move quickly and freely between both.

How They Will Occur
The intention is to include a timetable of art painting processes, which will consist of certain times in the following months. Ideas of setting a limit on the painting time have been considered.

Dialogue with Art Paintings
The personal dialogue processes approached in this research combine elements of Heuristic research, but allow for an individual account.
These processes are based on the internal search mechanisms present within the creative-self processes The processes relate to a conversation or dialogue that takes place between the researcher, artist and a higher consciousness of either the self, an artwork or other object studied closely. Many artists and art therapists have utilized these methods in their research and inquiry.

Why the Dialogue Will be Undertaken in This Manner
The dialogue process is intended to provide a different level of consciousness. It is anticipated that I will connect with my art paintings through the processes of dialogue. The dialogue may inform me on levels unavailable to me experientially.

What the Dialogue Will Comprise
This process is intended to encompass a journey into art painting. The aim is to literally enter into the art paintings through passages of different levels of consciousness. In order to make the space available to connect with these other levels of consciousness, the following will be utilized: indwelling; a search of the self through thought; meditation and contemplation. The insights may come through hearing the words in my mind, intuition, or new concepts emerging from or into internal frames of reference.

Where the Dialogue Will Take Place
This process is an internal one, while the external and inter-objective realities in my surroundings may have bearing on the internal mechanisms. The proposed dialogue will occur in the studio space designated for writing this research. The set-up of the computer on one side and the art paintings on the other is intentionally designed towards easy access to writing when dialogue occurs.

When the Dialogue Will Take Place
The method of dialogue within this research will be approached using a lack of structured timetable or schedule. As I have not attempted this process before, I am unsure of whether it will be able to fit into a time-frame. I am unsure of whether I can summon dialogue at will; or whether it will emerge in an indiscriminate manner.

How the Dialogue Will Occur
This is largely unable to be determined at this point in time. There is a commitment to a total immersion in the processes of this inquiry and it is likely that the dialogue will naturally emerge from the art paintings through channels due to the immersion process. It is anticipated that the creation of the unique personal space for communication with my art paintings will reveal and allow for documentation of how the process occurs.

Reflection on Art Paintings

Why the Reflection Will be Undertaken in This Manner
The reflection process formulates the basis for the intimate connectivity of the processes of art paintings and dialogue. It forms the fabric from which the evaluation cloth is cut. The sacred witness will allow the space and time to measure the experience and to dwell on the emergence of new information.

The reflection process aims to draw the art paintings and dialogue processes together and provide the stand-back viewpoint, indispensable to making art paintings and primordial self- inquiry.

What the Reflection Will Comprise
The reflection process in this research will comprise transpersonal processes as a method of self-inquiry. It will evoke notions of the witness. These reflection processes will present a unique witness account of the experience of art painting, the dialogue experience and the overall experiences.

The observations of thoughts, emotions, dreams, dialogue and art painting processes provide the foundation from which to evaluate the personal interior experience.

Where the Reflection Will Take Place
The reflection is anticipated to take place within the transpersonal self -this being wherever the art paintings and dialogue processes are taking place. They may take place in other areas of life, such as times of driving, walking, meditating and working.

When the Reflection Will Take Place
Much like the whereabouts of the reflection processes, the time-frame of this process encompasses all other processes in this research. It is predictable that I will bear witness to my art paintings and my dialogue processes. The witness will be present when I make the connective leaps in consciousness and when the intellectual synapses jump into action. Thus, the internal observer will have to be on duty at all times, knitting the components of my processes together. These observations can then be evaluated into a unified and presentable critique.

How the Reflection Will Occur
The reflection processes aim to transcend the art paintings and dialogue states of consciousness. Reflection is anticipated to occur through the watchful gaze of the transpersonal witness. I will endeavour to consciously manifest the witness during times of art painting and dialogue. This will involve dis-identifying with the art paintings and dialogue processes.

Findings of the Exploration Into the Artist Identity
The basic components of why, what, where, when and how investigated in the art paintings and dialogue and reflection applications can be located in the art paintings themselves and in some of the text and explanation of each of the art paintings on the website.
