Art Painting As a Career

Many people like to draw, sketch, and do art painting. Often we wonder if we could succeed if we chose art painting as a career. We have all heard of starving artists, but these individuals were not starving because of lack of talent, they chose the lesser pay to pursue a passion as their career choices.

You need to get out of the small towns and go to where the people that appreciate art are. Go to large cities and practice your skills on the street where people can stop and observe you at work. More artists sell their work when people can see them create it. If you do human faces then pick people out in the crowd and sketch their faces. Be sure you sign and autograph every picture that you do.

Volunteer at local civic clubs to help children learn to appreciate art. You will find that a lot of your successful artists will volunteer for these programs and you will get to meet them when you volunteer as well. Do not be afraid to ask questions of the professionals and be honest about your goals and dreams when you talk to them. They can give you advice that is more valuable than anything you can learn in a book.

If you have to work another job until your art starts to sell then make sure you still make the time to create your artistic pieces. You cannot stop doing what you love and think that you will start again one day. The chances are that you will never pick the projects up again once you stop.
